Privacy Notice
This notice describes the personal data processed in connection with the website published at shalltear.dev. It is brief because the processing it describes is minimal, and each statement made below is capable of verification by external inspection.
Last updated:
1. Data presently collected
No data submitted by you is collected, there being no facility by which data may be submitted. The Site consists of static pages and files. No accounts, forms or comment facilities presently exist.
The hosting and content-delivery providers engaged by the Operator maintain ordinary server logs. Those logs record your Internet Protocol address, the page or file requested, and the user-agent string transmitted by your browser. Such logging is inherent in the operation of any web server and occurs irrespective of whether the Operator inspects it. The Operator does not construct profiles from those logs and does not combine them with any other source of data.
2. Processing not undertaken
The Operator does not undertake, and the Site does not perform, any of the following.
- Analytics. No component of the Site measures your behavior.
- Advertising and third-party tracking. Neither is present upon the Site.
- Cookies, save for any strictly necessary to a session. No such cookie is presently required, and accordingly no consent mechanism is presented, there being nothing to which consent could be given.
- Sale or disclosure of personal data to any third party for that party’s own purposes.
The Engine does not transmit data over any network. It incorporates no telemetry, no update check and no upload facility, and it holds no knowledge of the existence of the Site. In consequence, the publication of a new build may be ascertained only by returning to the Site.
3. Data to be processed upon the introduction of accounts
A feedback tracker is in contemplation. Authentication will be required in order to submit a report or to participate in discussion, and shall not be required in order to download or install the Engine or to ship a product built with it. This notice will be revised before any such facility opens, and not afterwards. The categories of data the facility is designed to hold are as follows.
- an opaque identifier issued by the authentication provider selected by you;
- a display name and an avatar, the avatar being copied to servers under the Operator’s control so that the rendering of a page does not disclose your activity to that provider;
- a reputation record;
- such material as you elect to write or attach.
The provision of an email address is optional. Any address received at authentication is discarded unless you elect to enable email notifications. The majority of accounts are expected to hold none.
4. Retention
Server logs are retained for thirty (30) days and are thereafter deleted. Material published by you is retained until it is removed, whether by you or by the Operator.
5. Your rights in respect of your data
Upon the introduction of accounts, you will be able to export all material written by you in a machine-readable format, and to delete your account of your own motion and without application to any person.
The deletion of an account does not effect the deletion of the discussions in which you participated. Your personal details are erased and your name is removed, but the reports and replies remain, with authorship reattributed to a placeholder. Their removal would destroy the contributions of other persons and the record of genuine defects which other users may be following. Files attached by you are deleted, those being your own material rather than a constituent part of a shared discussion.
According to your place of residence, you may hold rights of access, rectification, portability and erasure in respect of your personal data, and a right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Any such request should be addressed to contact@shalltear.dev, and the Operator will give effect to it.
6. Place of establishment and territorial scope
The Operator operates from the United States. The service providers engaged to host the Site may store and serve it from other territories.
The Site is directed to the United States and is operated under the law of the United States. It is not offered to persons in other countries and is not constituted for them: no content is priced in any other currency, translated into any other language, or marketed in any other territory.
7. Amendment of this notice
Where the data collected changes, this notice shall be revised before that change takes effect, and the date stated above shall be revised with it.
